The Just Enough Items mod is a mod that adds a helpful menu to your Minecraft inventory. It is one of the most popular mods for Minecraft 1.19 and up and is included in many mod packs. Just Enough Items is not a one of its kind mod. It’s both a successor and a competitor to other mods, but it has gained more popularity than any of those.

Many years ago, the leading inventory-help mod was Too Many Items (TMI), but that mod hasn’t received any updates since Minecraft version 1.7.6. JEI on the other hand is usually one of the first mods to work with new releases of Minecraft and Forge. The mod adds a very useful inventory menu, which can be opened and closed by pressing ‘O’ on your keyboard. The item overview includes a search bar and buttons to scroll through the many pages of items. On top of that, it will scale with the rest of your Minecraft GUI.

A great crafting assistant

One of the best features of this useful Minecraft mod is the crafting assistant. When looking for crafting recipes, you can simply click any block or item. You can also check an item’s uses by hovering an item or block and pressing ‘U’ on the keyboard. This will show all the items and blocks you can craft using the block you selected. For wood, you will see you can use it to craft many things such as tools, weapons, beds etcetera.

Before we had this mod we would always refer to the internet for crafting. We would look up the materials needed before actually crafting an item. With this mod now available, it makes the overall crafting a lot easier. A lot of mods are supported by Just Enough Items making a lot of players and mod developers benefit from it.

Just Enough Items keybinds

You have all these basic controls that help you easily navigate through the mod. You can show recipes by hovering over an item and then pressing the R button. Show the item’s uses by hovering over the item and then clicking the U button. If you want to toggle the item list overlay, you can simultaneously press control + O.

This mod also allows you to take advantage of search options. Select the search bar by pressing control + F. Clear your search by clicking the right mouse button. Go back to your previous search by simply pressing the up arrow navigation key. These controls and many more by going to the Minecraft options then controls.
